Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Our Lady Queen of Heaven School. We are proud to be one of the five schools that make up the Assumption Catholic Schools system that was unified in 1999. Our school, home to grades kindergarten through second grade is located at 750 10th Avenue south, on the southwest side of Wisconsin Rapids.
Our staff is made up of six homeroom teachers and shared teachers for physical education, music and art, and paraprofessionals. All of our teachers hold current Wisconsin DPI licenses. In addition, we are fortunate to have several family and community members who graciously give of their time to provide supplemental classroom assistance and tutoring support for our students. We believe that all students can learn and that learning is a never-ending adventure. We utilize a Social Emotional Learning program that builds academic and social-emotional skills for all our students. Our Assumption Catholic School’s curriculum includes the WRISA Benchmarks and Standards and the Diocese of LaCrosse Curriculum standards.
Our learning environment is grounded in Catholic principles and tradition. This faith-based approach is evident in all aspects of the students’ day. We begin and end our day in prayer as a school family and continue to pray throughout the day in classrooms. We celebrate Mass every week with the students leading the responsorial psalm, prayers, and liturgical hymns. Religion is taught daily in the classrooms. Our faith is modeled by students and teachers alike through our actions and words. We work to prepare students for the future, to be lifelong learners and to be citizens who will follow in the footsteps of Christ.
Please know that you are always welcome to visit our school. The rewards of a Catholic education are endless. Your gift of a Catholic education prepares your child academically, emotionally, and spiritually and will remain with them throughout their life. We hope to see you soon!
Wishing God’s best for you,
Shelley Bruley, Principal
